When I was a young girl, I grew up on an island in the middle of the pacific surrounded by water where nature was around me all of the time. The ocean all around the island is a massive force of nature ever changing day by day and never the same as the day before. Just being able to be out on a boat riding the rolling waves constantly coming in from parts unknown is a freedom not many people get to experience in their lifetime. One tends to realize just how small humankind is on this planet when you are in the ocean. When I used to spend time on my dad’s boat I came realize how unpredictable nature can be. In the early mornings the water can be smooth as glass, but two hours later can have swells so large it is hard to navigate on your boat. Every so often I would take the time to jump into the water and scuba dive among the fishes and dolphins. Seeing the beauty of nature and how the only thing that any creature under the sea were the fish and dolphins only seemed worried about was survival. To me Ocean is one true untouched part of nature that us as humans can not control or change how the waves roll or how the currents change along the shores. I was very fortunate to live in a place with so much nature and beauty and like to return home as much as i can throughout the years.
When I think of nature and what nature means to me, I always tend to think about something so untouched with a wild uncontrolled beauty to it , like the natural forms cliffs along the more rural parts of the islands of Hawaii. . Not only is nature just that, I tend to think of nature as freedom like the mustang horses that run free across the United States. Nature in my mind is untouched by humans and not dependent on anything other than itself and the animals that live wildly among it. But there is so much more to nature that is beyond words. For me when I think of the ultimate force of nature my thoughts go directly to the ocean and its untold beauty.
